1.Flower Drying
Every keepsake begins with one essential step: perfectly dried flowers. Before we ever introduce resin, your blooms must be completely free of moisture — and here's why that matters.
Even the smallest amount of trapped moisture can cause flowers to rot and decay from within, compromising the beauty and integrity of your piece over time. Resin and moisture simply don't mix — and we refuse to cut corners on something this important.
By ensuring every petal is thoroughly dried before it's encased, we're able to craft a keepsake that is not only breathtaking but built to last — a timeless piece you'll treasure for years to come.
2.Floral Color Changes
Each Bloomsake piece is crafted to honor your flowers exactly as nature intended — in their truest, most authentic form.
During the drying and preservation process, flowers undergo a beautiful transformation. As moisture leaves and pigments stabilize, color shifts are a natural and expected part of the journey — reds may deepen, blush tones can soften to gray, and some varieties develop richer, earthier hues. These changes aren't flaws; they're a reflection of your flowers transitioning from fresh to everlasting.
Because every bouquet is one of a kind, color variations differ based on flower type, pigment, and structure. We consider these natural nuances part of what makes each preserved piece uniquely yours.
3.Bruising on Flowers
Floral bruising is a natural part of the preservation process — and one we want you to feel fully informed about before your keepsake is created.
Bruising appears as transparent or discolored spots on petals after resin is poured. While it becomes visible during preservation, it actually originates much earlier — from how the flowers were handled while still fresh. Frequent touching or pressure on petals can leave an impression that only reveals itself once resin is applied.
Bruising is most commonly seen in:
- Roses
- Tropical flowers
- Light-colored blooms
- Flowers with thin or delicate petals
These are not holes or damage to your flowers — simply a natural characteristic of the preservation journey.
4. Bubbles in Resin
Tiny bubbles in resin are a natural and common part of floral preservation — and a sign that your flowers are truly, organically present within the piece.
Flowers are naturally porous. When resin is poured over delicate petals, trapped air slowly releases as the resin cures, sometimes forming small bubbles at or beneath the surface. We take every precaution to minimize this — carefully drying and sealing each bloom before pouring — but some bubbles may still appear.
Rather than flaws, we see them as fingerprints of nature: quiet proof that something real and living is held within your keepsake.
5. Resin Ambering
Resin is a stunning preservation medium, but like all natural materials, it evolves over time. With prolonged exposure to sunlight or heat, resin can gradually develop a warm amber hue — a process that is completely normal and inherent to the medium.
To help protect your piece, we recommend keeping it out of direct sunlight and away from consistent heat sources.
If you prefer a preservation style without these considerations, our pressed frames and shadowboxes are beautiful alternatives that offer lasting clarity without the effects of resin.
